Trust Fall

We left it all behind this week. Everything we had known and loved for the past 9 years now lives only in our hearts and our memories. So much life was lived in those 9 years and we have become the people we are today because of that life and the people we lived it with.

It's interesting how events can be so deeply entwined within the recesses of your heart. Even the painful ones can bring about such a deep level of gratefulness. 5 years ago we began foster care and 2 little girls joined our family. We had just opened The Ember coffeehouse and were thoroughly busy and loving everything we put our hands to. Then, cancer.

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 5 years ago this fall and underwent 2 surgeries. My first round of chemo started Oct 1, 2013. Talk about sucky! It was an overwhelming season of life for our family and we knew that at any moment we could be swallowed up in a pit of despair.

So, we fell into Jesus. Almost literally. We had no strength to muster up to get us through another hour, much less another day. So, we learned to trust what the Savior of the world said: that He will rescue those who love him; he will protect this who trust him; he will always be with them in times of trouble and will satisfy them with a long life! (Ps 91)

Our Jesus sustained our family.

The TRUST I have in the Creator of this world is unparalleled to any sense of security I could possibly find anywhere else. I have learned that throughout this whole life we live, our Father God will always be calling us to trust him more. I often hear his voice whisper, “Will you trust me now?”

Five years out of that season and I'm ALIVE! Seriously. I'm still here and cancer free! Woohoo!! We no longer have our foster kids, but we have 2 biological daughters that are a testimony to the miracle working power of our God. We left The Ember in very capable hands and are stepping out in Faith that God will always provide.

Which brings us to our newest adventure! This one is packed with anticipation and excitement, but the call to trust remains. We have left the security of friends and jobs to pursue adventure and LOVE. And, even still we get to trust our Father more.
